  • I was greeted by this fella on the Hills Hoist last night. A Tawny Frogmouth keeping watch.

  • Rocky Mountain High 🦃

    A beautiful sunrise view across fields and houses to a mountain ridge featuring Mount Sopris. A beautiful snow covered view across fields and a few houses to a mountain ridge and Mount Sopris.

    We had our first real Thanksgiving this year. An amazing two weeks with family in the Rocky Mountains—snow, games, and food. So much delicious food.

    Can’t wait to go back.

    A beautiful view of Mount Sopris after fresh snow. Clouds, a view across fields, a few houses, onto the mountain. A foot or more snow covering everything. • My in-laws were asking about the yellow buoys we can see out from the beach where we’re staying, which reminded me of a shark net explainer I drew a few years ago…

    A drawing of how shark nets work. The sketch shows a beach and buoys linked together with nets—untehtered from either the coastine or the sea floor.

  • Some friends and I were having a laugh trying to generate images. This was supposed to be one of them in the gutter with a parrot on his shoulder.

    It’s just great.

    An AI generate illustration with comic panel vibe, of a giant blue parrot with human legs sitting in the middle of garbage strewn inner city street.

    A green parrot giving me some side eye. A perplexed red and green parrot sitting on the railing of a second story verandah, eucalypt forrest in the background. A sulphur crested cockatoo sitting on the railing of a second story verandah, eucalypt forest and power lines in the background, saying g'day.

  • The end of a great week of GUE DPV Cave training in Ginnie Springs with Kirill and my teammate Bori. The most fun class I’ve taken in ages.

  • An update, I have one “Ginnie Finger” today. Limestone is grindy. 😬

    We made it to 3700 feet in the Heinkel section of Devil’s in Ginnie today. I think the hardest part was dealing with a bouquet of empty stages and multiple scooters in the Eye for deco.

    One day to go… we dropped everything before the Heinkel and swam through today, but tomorrow we’re taking scooters through.

  • It’s a bloody long way from Brisbane to High Springs.

    A lonely witch's hat on the tarmac. The flying kangaroo. Through the door of a cockpit, some fuzzy dice hang above the flight controls. A close up of the High Springs water tower.

  • On October 14 we are being asked to vote on one simple thing

    Should the following amendment be made to the Australian Constitution:

    Chapter IX Recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples

    129 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice

    In recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia:

    i. there shall be a body, to be called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice;

    ii. the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice may make representations to the Parliament and the Executive Government of the Commonwealth on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;

    iii. the Parliament shall, subject to this Constitution, have power to make laws with respect to matters relating to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice, including its composition, functions, powers and procedures.

    The question on the referendum is simply:

    A Proposed Law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.

    Do you approve this proposed alteration?

    Whatever else you’ve seen, heard, or believe, the only things that matter are the amendment and question above.
