We spent Easter on beautiful Heron Island, home to a variety of birds (no herons) and a green sea turtle nesting ground.

In the early 20th century also home to a turtle cannery, thankfully now a resort and University of Queensland research station.

Looking out across the blue and green water of Heron Island, toward the horizon and clear blue sky, snorkelers swimming around a disused wooden frame. A golden sunset drifts toward an ocean horizon, backlit clouds outlined above a rusted ship wreck jutting above the waterline. A rich orange sunset, the sun disappearing below an ocean horizon, grey clouds lit with deep purples and oranges.

Did I mention the birds? Bring a spare shirt.
